The PreSchool Room

Our large, well equipped, preschool room caters for up to 33 children for the year before they leave for school. Working on a ratio of 1 team member for every 8 children, sssions are offered on a full day, half day and government funded basis. The Preschool is a free flowing, continuous provision that allows each child to access a number of our well-resourced areas:-
preschooMessy Area – Here, children can choose to be creative with activities such as painting, drawing and sticking
Home Corner – This area allows imagination to develop through the range of equipment offered.
Construction Area – Whilst being able to play with construction toy's, this area also allows the children to put on their thinking caps and experience problem solving and mathematics
IT Area – Allowing access to PC's with educational applications, MP3 players,
torches, cameras and video cameras for the children to use as part of their learning.
Book Corner - A nice quiet area for the children to sit and simply read a story.

All of the activities that the children have access to are also available in our fantastic garden area.

We aim to provide a number of extra curriculum activities as part of your child's experience with us. These activities will vary due to availability but some of which you will be able to view are Hip Hop Pop, Sign Language and Musical Minds. These activities are provided at no additional cost to you!

We strive to provide as much feedback as possible and offer this in a number of ways:-
Internet – We provide a number of updates online via our website, Facebook and Twitter for the entire nursery. Our website also includes a gallery where you can browse and see photos of your child and "Whats on this week" section.
Face to Face - Based on parents feedback we have opted for a "Parents and children come to nursery sessions" over a standard "parents evening". This enables you to spend time observing and taking part in the experiences that take place in the nursery and give you opportunity to talk to your child's key person about your child's development.
Nursery Screen – In our entrance we have a screen displaying all events and updates that are going on within our nursery

Hip Hop Pop

Hip Hop PopThe pre school children are having HIP HOP POP classes run by Jenny Bater, an experienced chorographer, these classes are enabling the to children to take part in a fun and exciting physical experience, where they are learning moves and techniques such as popping, locking, tutting, krumping and waving. Musical minds

Musical minds We are very proud to be part of the Musical Minds programme. Kat and Casey from our team are attending regular meetings to ensure that the children gain as much from this 10 week programme and to watch the impact that this has on our children. The programme involves looking at how we use music within a childcare setting and using it to increase children’s confidence, language and communication. Our first session was a massive success all children joined in and we have learnt some really lovely new songs that help us communicate with one another.

Catch it bin in wash it

Catch it bin in wash it At the Gateway nursery we understand the importance of ensuring germs are all kept to a minimum. We do this as a staff team by regular cleaning and by teaching the children about good hygiene practises.

Our new tissue stations help teach the children about how to wipe them nose and minimise germs to try to help illness stay at a minimum.
